Matthew Hilton
Matthew Hilton is a British contemporary furniture designer who attended Portsmouth College of Art and then later graduated from Kingston Polytechnic in 1979. After graduating, he worked as an industrial engineer and model maker for furniture brand, Capa. Matthew Hilton is known for creating innovative modern furniture pieces that blend comfort, functionality, and contemporary style together while also using a wide range of materials such as solid hardwood cast iron, and brass. Hilton created his most iconic piece of work, the Balzac Armchair, in 1991 from his own design studio. Hilton founded Matthew Hilton Limited in 2007 and is collaborating with Portugese manufacturer, De La Espada, in order to gain personal control over design, manufacturing, and marketing aspects of his furniture.
